The Ladies Section at Chiltern Forest Golf Club

The Ladies Section at Chiltern Forest is a friendly, active group of ladies of all ages, who enjoy their golf and who play regularly in competitions, matches, mixed events and socially. They also enjoy the opportunities to get together and make good use of the club's catering facilities.

At Chiltern Forest , unlike many other clubs, Ladies' competitions take place on both Saturdays and Mondays, so ladies with work or family commitments can always get a competitive round of golf! Chiltern Forest is a members' club and as such there is no need to book a tee time, simply check the diary for key events and turn up. Monthly medals and monthly stablefords are played each month on both Saturdays and Mondays, and the majority of Major Competitions also take place on Saturdays. These include the Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings, Lady Captain's Day, The President's Cup, The Ladies Foursomes and the Ladies Championship - a 36 hole event which is played over Saturday and Sunday.

The Primrose Cup, the Rosebowl, the Iron Cup and the Christmas Competition and Lunch all take place on Mondays, our traditional Ladies Day. We also play in the Club Captain's Day and the 3 Club 9 hole competition, both of which are on Saturdays and are open to all members of the Club. Additionally, we have various knock-out and eclectic competitions which can take place at any time. In addition to our formal competitions, there are 'roll-ups' on Saturdays and Mondays when there is no competition scheduled, so we can always get a game!

We enter teams for the Buckinghamshire Bronze and Silver Leagues, which are tightly fought scratch matches, and we enter competitions such as the Mail on Sunday knock-out. We also play in the Ladies Chiltern League, as well as having friendly home and away matches against a range of local (and not so local) clubs. At Chiltern Forest , the opportunity to play for your club is always there - there is no 'elite' squad and if you volunteer to play you will have a good chance of being selected.

Add in the mixed club events and the mixed club matches and you have a very busy golfing calendar! The Ladies Section is crucial to the success of our mixed competitions and events. They are very popular and provide the opportunity for meeting new members, as pairings are often 'drawn', so you don't need to have a regular partner to play. Mixed events are usually rounded off with a meal, which is all part of the fun. There are regular Friday 'Nine & Dine' fixtures in the summer as well as 'Nine & Roasts' on Sundays in the winter.

Chiltern Forest Ladies pride themselves on their fitness, and it's all down to the course! The first time you play here you will notice the ups and downs on a few of the holes, but once you are playing regularly you will take them in your stride and develop your fitness and stamina; just ask our 80 year old ladies who still play and who have not yet resorted to buggies!

A factor which may be unique to Ladies Sections in the area is that our Club President, Wendy Seed, is a member and former Lady Captain of the Ladies Section. We believe this indicates the central role which ladies play at Chiltern Forest Golf Club, and the respect with which the section is regarded by the membership as a whole.

We are very welcoming to new members so, if you are thinking about joining a golf club in the area, contact the General Manager, Anthony Roberts (01923 631267), and arrange to come and see the course and meet a member of the Ladies Committee. We will be very pleased to show you around and tell you more about the club and the Ladies Section.
